Purchase: GPS Chirstmas gift because I wanted one. It cost $100
Things I like about the Garmin etrex GPS: It is simple to use and comes in very handy when I get turned around in the woods or anywhere for that matter. I also like it for giving me information on how far I have walked, what pace I am walking, and sunrise and sunset times for when I am hunting.
What I don't like about the Garmin etrex: It is very basic compared to other GPS units and sometimes has difficulty picking up a signal in parts of the woods. It also doesn't get you exactly to the point you want but it does get you pretty close.
GPS etrex quality: I believe the construction and quality of the unit is very good. It is a very small compact device and there aren't really any parts that could break.
etrex summary: This is a good GPS for someone just learning to use GPS devices as long as you don't need it for exact locations or precise directions.
