Purchase: Tree Stands I bought the Summit Viper at a local sporting goods store in Auburn, AL, and paid around $239 plus tax. I have friends who have used Summit products for years so I decided to take the plunge.
Things I like about the Summit Viper X4 Tree Stands: The Viper X4 is well worth the money!! This is the quietest, easiest to use stand that I have ever owned. I have been extremely impressed with the Viper's climbing ability on hardwoods. Let's face it...all stands do great on a Pine, but few can hold their own on a mature Oak. The Viper climbs fast and is a breeze to hang on the tree. The new climbing sturrips are a great addition to an already top notch product
What I don't like about the Summit Viper X4: I was dissappointed to have to mount the footrest myself. I have the tools at hand, but I'm not sure that everyone has a drill and screwdrivers to install the hardware for the footrest. The good news is that It works great with or without the footrest in place. The coating on the cable could also be upgraded a bit. I've used my stand about five times this year and already have nicks and cuts in the coating. But it still works great.

Viper X4 summary: I'd recommend the Summit Viper to anyone. This is a overall great product!!!
