Purchase: Bows I purchased this bow from a local dealer, Hidden Valley Outdoors (St. Clairsville, OH). The cost was approx $400 bare. This model come with the XT2000 limbs. I was guided to this bow by one of the owners, when I asked for the best bow for the price.
Things I like about the Hoyt Ultra Mag Bows: The bow is very light. The price is very competitive. Other higher price Hoyts with the same limbs have machined riser which is more rigid; however, the poured rise on the SuperMag has the same feel on release (having shot both) and has a lifetime warranty...so, why pay for a machined riser? Look at the IBO ratings, the SuperMag shots 5 fps under the VTec, their highest priced bow, and has a longer brace height.
What I don't like about the Hoyt Ultra Mag: The grip takes a while to get use too..but after a dozen or so practice rounds, your accuracy will increase. The grip forces you to not "grip" or torque the bow. Would like the entire bow to be camo, do not care for the bronze finish on the limb receiver (brush finished, non-reflective)..just being nit-picky.
Bows Ultra Mag quality: The Cam 1/2 design allows for a very smooth draw and break into the let-off off the peak weight. Excellent speed and very accurate. Purchased the bow of this season, over 500 shots..no sign of wear on limbs, riser or cams. Current Setting: 30" draw; 70# pull
Ultra Mag summary: I shot 3D with friend that have paid over $750 for the bare bow and are solid shots, my Super Mag is just as fast and accurate. You will not be disappointed with this bow, do not let the price tag make you think this bow is inferior to the higher priced Hoyts. Happy and Safe Hunting!!
