Matthews Outback Bows
Bows Manufacturer: Matthews
Matthews Model: Outback
Review Category: Bows
Purchase: Bows For a few years I had thought about trying a Matthews bow, but honestly the price had turned me away. But after five years of shooting my Reflex Express I was in the mood for something new. A customer of mine told me of his recent purchase of a new Outback bow and how much he liked it. He brought it in to let me shoot it, and I must admit I was impressed. So I called the local Matthews dealer and was informed he had exactly what I wanted. When I inspected the bow and noticed the quality of construction and finish, I was sold. The fact they had the bows discounted $80 below list helped in making my decision. After depositing $650 in his cash register, I was on my way to my favorite bow tuner.
Things I like about the Matthews Outback Bows: The bow was easy to set up with the centerline reference on the grip. After setting nock height with a T-square, I shot a few arrows. With a little fine tuning I was soon shooting the vanes off my arrows. The bows draw is amazingly smooth, and now that I am used to the positive draw stop it is very comfortable to shoot. I love the short axle to axle length of the bow, making it very manueverable in the tree stand. The bow is quieter than my Reflex, and the only accessory that I have added are Simms Limb Savers.
What I don't like about the Matthews Outback: I had never shot a bow with a positive draw stop, and that took a little getting used to. After shooting the bow for weeks it now seems natural.
Bows Outback quality: The Matthews Outback has no equal when it comes to quality of components and finish.
Outback summary: Definetly a great bow! My Reflex Express is now #2.
