Purchase: Bows Purchased in NZ with PSE quiver, Mongoose sight and peep, brand new in the mid 90s This rig cost $1300.00 NZ new at the time. They are alot cheaper now if still available.
Things I like about the PSE Baby G Compound Bows: The orginal short draw fast compound that gives a shorter archer some decent arrow speed. Its still hard to find a bow with a 26" draw that will produce the arrow speed of a Baby G. Compact size makes it easy to get through the bush. Reasonably quiet when fitted with string silencers and a good let off makes it easy to hold at peak draw.
What I don't like about the PSE Baby G Compound: To get its fast speed it has a radical riser and short overall length. This makes it an unforgiving bow to shoot and although it groups well its easy to spray arrows with bad form or under stress due to its unforgiving design. By todays standard its a heavy bow and could do with a workover.
Bows Baby G Compound quality: Mine is almost 8 years old now and still going strong so its a well made bow of typical PSE high quality and standard of finish.
Baby G Compound summary: A great bow in its day and still a good choice for a short draw archer looking for a powerfull hunting bow. Showing its age now with regard to weight and there are similar bows that deliver the goods with a short draw that are lighter and more forgiving. Good value though and can be picked up cheaply second hand. I'm finally upgrading to a Matthews Swichback.
