Purchase: Bows I'll get to my Mathews and Bow Tech in a minute, but let me start out by saying Bow Hunting makes me smile just the thought of it. I think deer hunting is great with a rifle, but with a bow it's 100% better. I hope I'm not wasting everyone's time reading this, but I know there's a lot of fellow bow hunters who are starting to feel the mornings chill down a little and are starting to double up on their practice time. I had a beautiful buck come bouncing across the road in front of me the other day and all I could think about was that deer hunting season and bow season aren't too far away anymore. As for my choice of gear when I bowhunt I have two actually. The first is the new Mathews Switchback which I just picked up a few weeks back. This is the bow I'm taking bow hunting this year. It's beyond smooth right out of the box. I believe it's one of the the newest hunting bows out on the market for 2005. I had no plans on taking anything but my bow tech Independence bow hunting this year, but I found myself next to a kid at the range who had just started bow hunting and wasn't nailing the bull like he should. I started giving him some fatherly advice on bow hunting and the next thing I know he asked me to shoot his bow as he was sure there was something wrong with it. I couldn't believe the accuracy of this thing. It was amazingly smooth and just felt right to me. Don't get me wrong I love my Bow Tech, but sometimes that second love comes around that you just can't resist and this was it.
Things I like about the Bow Hunting Bows: The Mathews Switchback will become my primary bow hunting tool because I shoot great with it. I can't describe how forgiving this bow is. When I think of the advances they've made since the days I started out bow hunting with my Bear Whitetail Hunter it's amazing. As for the Bow Tech Independence VFT it's been great to me and just narrowly gets beaten out by the Mathews Switchback. The Mathews wins primarily because of how smooth it is. Both of the bows are extremely accurate and I wouldn't be surprised if I end up using both of them this bow hunting season.
What I don't like about the Bow Hunting : What I don't like about my newest purchase for bow hunting was telling my wife I was putting down my Bow Tech which I would say I have a thousand dollars invested in for another bow I just spent anonther paycheck on. Needless to say she watches the credit cards closer than I thought and knew exactly what my new bowhunting toy cost before I even brought it up and was loaded for bear when I had did mention it to her. As for the bows they are both above the rest in my opinion especially the Mathews Archery with having the very latest in technology.
Bows quality: Once again I never thought the Bow Tech would ever be displaced as my choice for Bow hunting, and it has made some great shots for me throughout the years. The Mathews takes almost all of the vibration out of the bow with two harmonic dampeners built into the roller guard. I'm not sure how all of this technology works, but it does quite well. Bow hunting is hard enough where I hunt and with such a great bow in hand I'm going to feel even better when he comes sneaking my way this year.
summary: Bow hunting with either of these hunting bows is a luxury. There are plenty of good bows out there if you can't afford one of these right now. It doesn't matter if you're shooting a $200 dollar bow, the key is to know your hunting equipment well and practice, practice, practice so when you're bow hunting everything will come as second nature when Mr. Big pokes his head out. Good luck to all of my fellow Bow Hunters.
