Browning Micro Midas 3 Bows

Bows Manufacturer: Browning
Browning Model: Micro Midas 3
Review Category: Bows

Purchase: Bows I bought this for my son at Gander Mountain for $219 based on it's adjustability. My son, an average seven year old felt it was time to graduate into a compound more like dad's. There are two models, one with a draw weight of 20lbs to 30lbs and one with a draw weight of 30 lbs to 40lbs. We got the 20-30 lbs.

Things I like about the Browning Micro Midas 3 Bows: I like this bow. It has 10 inches of draw length adjustment, from 18" to 28", and ten pounds of weight adjustment. Adjusting the draw length is very easy. It has a smooth drawing cam with a good let-off, it's relatively light, and it seems well built. The package comes with accessories, a sight, a plastic tab rest and three fiberglass arrows.

What I don't like about the Browning Micro Midas 3: Because we bought the 20-30lb bow, the fiberglass arrows that came with it were too heavy and 20 yard shots were near impossibilities. This was solved by purchasing some 1516 Jazz arrows. The other problem with the weight is that because it is so light, I have a sneaking suspicion that poor ol' dad is going to have to buy the young whippersnapper a new bow in a few years.

Bows Micro Midas 3 quality: This is a very "Daddy-friendly" bow. It is easily adjustable, has standard AMO fittings, and so a new rest was easy to put on. The rest, if you like it is fine, although the younger children have a hard time keeping the arrows on the rest. It's easy enough, however to take an old rest out of your tackle box and bolt it on.

Micro Midas 3 summary: There isn't a great selection of compound bows out there for younger kids. Some bows have no let off, some aren't very adjustable which you need as they grow. Some are plastic junk and some are way too expensive. Whatever bow you get is probably going to be a compromise, but this bow is a relatively good one. It will give your kid room to grow while he/she is shooting, and gives them bragging rights when they whup your behind on the 3d range.
