Purchase: I bought my Swithcback early in the summer of 2005 at Allen's Archery outside of Hertford, NC, for $670. I marched in the door and said, "My research indicates that I'd be well advised to consider buying a Mathews bow instead of any other company's product. I want you to convince me." Without a word, the shop owner produced his own Switchback, handed it to me with a release, and said, "Let's go shoot it."
Things I like about the Mathews Switchback: I left with my own Switchback about two hours later, already shooting groups at fifteen yards that I could encircle with my thumb and forefinger! I was already an experienced shooter, but from the first shot, I loved the Mathew's balance, quietness, lack of vibration and kick, and overall sweet feel. It's easy in the hand, accurate, fast, and surprisingly forgiving for a compact bow with a reflexed riser. This bow is an excellent paper-puncher, a viable 3-D outfit, and a killer hunting rig all rolled into one. It's not only versatile, but entirely capable.
What I don't like about the Mathews Switchback: I do not like the fact that I might have been shooting this bow almost six months before I purchased one. It's obvious to me that if one intends to buy a new Mathew's product, it should be procured early in the model year!
Switchback quality: The construction, fit, and finish of the Switchback are absolutely superb ... as good as I've ever seen on a production bow. I have no complaints whatsoever concerning it's quality. It is a tight and flawless unit ... a bow that Mathews can be proud of, and that I am proud to own.
Switchback summary: Bow-brand preferences are an individual matter, and I refuse to beat the drum for any one company. There are many good bow manufacturers out there, but Mathews is obviously at the head of the pack, and I believe the Switchback is as good as any current offering, and better than most. Love my new Switchback. You'll love yours too!
