Matthews Switchback Bows

Bows Manufacturer: Matthews
Matthews Model: Switchback
Review Category: Bows

Purchase: I acquired this bow on My 39th birthday, June 10th 2006. Ten local guy's got together and bought me a new Matthews Switchback bow, complete with arrows, quiver, sights, and a beautiful case. They felt sorry for me as I was using a 16 year old PSE. Many of them shoot Matthews already.

Things I like about the Matthews Switchback: I love the smoothness of this bow. There is no recoil or vibration noticable. I love the let off, and it is so easy to hold, and focus my attention on finding the target. It shoots flat and accurately. Definately a huge, gigantic improvement over the PSE of yesteryear. I also really like the quiver. It is simple to attach in the rubber mount system, and simple to remove. It is quiet, and the arrows do not extend past the wheel of the bow, so in the bush it will be easier to carry around without snagging on trees and underbrush.

What I don't like about the Matthews Switchback: So far there is nothing I don't like about this bow. The only draw back (pun intended) I can think of is that technology will dictate that it will be surpassed in the future with another bow that will have bragging rights. In some ways I wish once a product is almost perfected it could stay there for 5 years or so to keep the shooters on the same playing field. As it is now the wealthy shooters keep upgrading and kicking our buts.

Switchback quality: The construction is supurb as far as I can tell. I love how short the bow is and the parallel limb system is unparalled (pun intended again). Quality seems excellent. There is one easy wear point. That is the rubber damper that the string rubs on near each wheel. It seems to take very little shooting for the string to wear into the rubber. The plus though is that these are easy to replace.

Switchback summary: I would recommend the matthews switchback bow to anyone, except someone I don't get along with, or someone I am competing against, just kidding. I am not a get on the bandwagon person. This bow has long caught my attention as a quality product. When I was given one on my birthday I almost fell over. We ate birthday cake, and I shot the bow from the deck we were celebrating on (no alcohol). Did I ever whoop after hitting a 2" x 2" milk jug lid at 10 yards after 10 shots or so. THis was the first time I had shot it. Buy a Matthews Switchback. The only regret you'll have is that you didnt buy one sooner. Ask for one for your next birthday.
