PSE Nova Bows
Bows Manufacturer: PSE
PSE Model: Nova
Review Category: Bows
Purchase: Bows I bought this at Bass Pro Shops in St. Charles (in 2004?). They had it listed on sale in their circular and the store said they'd match it. I got an insane deal, something like $125.
Things I like about the PSE Nova Bows: I have a shoulder that can start hurting me from shooting. This bow has more let-off than the Browning I was previously shooting so it's easier to hold as well as being a bit easier on my shoulder. This is a left handed bow. For those of you who shoot left handed you know how small a selection there is of left handed bows (why I don't know, we're not that rare). Anyway, it was by far the best bow for the money. The next closest in cost that was similar in quality was (I believe) around $450. The bow has been a good bow and shot well. I even shattered a carbon arrow and effectively dry-fired the bow from full draw. The limbs did not shatter (and fortunately I didn't get carbon arrow splinters shot into my hand, it blew up the sight!). I think most compound bows are pretty high quality now, and the differences are largely theoretical. All you have to do is shoot a wheel bow from 15 years ago to see how much easier today's bow are to use. This bow is a good one, and it doesn't bother me that it doesn't have those stubby little limbs that they put on bows nowadays.
What I don't like about the PSE Nova: It has 2 cams. This is the one thing, besides an additiona few percentage points of let-off, that I would change. I like tuning a bow to be as simple as possible because I don't think it's something fun to do.
Bows Nova quality: Great as far as I can tell. I've shot it a decent amount for 2 seasons. Probably several hundred arrows with good performance.
Nova summary: I would recommend this bow with the one thing being that they should have made it a one cam bow. Thanks to PSE for making such an affordable and high quality bow that is available for left handed folks.
