Purchase: Hunting Outerwear I got this item as a Christmas gift and wasn't sure what to expect. It isn't something you'd wear to look cool, but I think most of us are more interested in functionality than in looks (and it actually looks like you're wearing a fleece turtleneck when you wear this). I was pleasantly surprised once I wore it. I believe they go for about $7 at Walmart.
Things I like about the Remington Neck Gaiter Hunting Outerwear: Whenever I go out in the cold, I can find a piece of clothing that will cover any part of my body. Before the neck gaiter the exceptions were my face and my neck. Even jackets with a zip-up collar wouldn't cover my entire neck, and it could get uncomfortable out there. The neck gaiter changed all that (now just my face is exposed). It's basically a fleece tube that goes over your neck, and the difference is like night and day.
What I don't like about the Remington Neck Gaiter: When this thing gets wet it becomes soggy and uncomfortable. At some point this can be about as bad as just having the cold air on you. I also think it may have stretched a bit after all the use I've given it, but I just fold it over now (not a big deal).
Hunting Outerwear Neck Gaiter quality: It's really held together well for all the use it has gotten.
Neck Gaiter summary: Every once in a while I come across a piece of gear that I think is "just great." The neck gaiter is one of them. If you think this might make you more comfortable, I bet that it would. It's also one of those things that's great because it gives such a benefit for the price. I wish Remington would also offer a model that has nylon, Gore-Tex or some other waterproof material sewn onto the outside of the fleece, but it's usually better that this doesn't have it. One of the favorite pieces of gear I own!
