Purchase: Bows My last bow was a Matthews Switchback and this bow improved my performance with archery significantly. I thought it would be hard to improve on but the first time I picked up a DXT I noticed how much lighter it was. It still took me two more years to buy a DXT but now I have one I will be selling the Switchback. I paid $600US for the DXT, second hand in the US and had it shipped to Australia.
Things I like about the Matthews DXT Compound Bow Bows: I expected the DXT to suffer in terms of smoothness compared to the Switchback. I was wrong. After 3 sighter shots I was grouping arrows tighter then I ever had with the Switchback. The DXT is smooth, quiet, fast accurate and LIGHT. I love it and I know i will be a better bow hunter with it. Here in Australia and NZ we tend to stalk our game rather then use stands and so have to carry our bows many miles in one day. Its extreme lightness is going to be a big help in this regard.
What I don't like about the Matthews DXT Compound Bow: I cant fault the bow at this stage but only wish Matthews would make a high quality sight to go with their excellent quivers and drop away rests.
Bows DXT Compound Bow quality: Typical of Matthews the quality and finish is a cut above most other manufacturers and this is why Matthews are the choice of so many archers. Once you own a Matthews its hard justify change. I went for a 10 day bow hunt in NZ recently and my companion had a PSE X-Force. He was teasing me about my Matthews but by the 5th day the bolts on his 3rd party bow quiver had come out and his quiver fell off his bow. The next day the 3rd party front sight on his bow broke and his hunt was over. As usual my Matthews was rock solid. I love the modular design of the Matthews. Once you attach a Matthews arrow rest and a Matthews quiver to the bow they don't move and you can concentrate on your hunt and not worry about your equipment.
DXT Compound Bow summary: I have to give this bow a five star rating. I will keep this bow for several years as once I have a bow nicely set up I like to concentrate on hunting and not worry about fiddling with changes to my equipment. It is everything the Switchback is and more. When people ask me about which bow to buy as they are just getting into archery, I always tell them to save themselves allot of time and hassle and just get a Matthews.
