Fishing Gear - Silver Thread© Fluorocarbon

Fishing Gear - Silver Thread

Fishing Gear - Every so often a new product will enter the market that is so extraordinary it defies adjectives. Silver Thread Fluorocarbon is one of those products. The Silver Thread pro staff was left virtually speechless when it was given the new product to test while fishing the 2003 Bassmaster Tour.

These veterans of professional bass fishing quickly called the Silver Thread home office with reports of utter amazement at the new line’s properties.

“This line is the toughest I’ve ever used,” said Pete Gluszek, Bassmaster Tour pro. “I am able to catch multiple fish without retying. In addition, it allows me to down-size my line diameter which maximizes the vibration and action of my lures, not to mention increases casting distance and accuracy.”

Frank Scalish, a Silver Thread devotee’ since Super Silver Thread was introduced in 1985, quickly began using Silver Thread Fluorocarbon almost exclusively while competing in Bassmaster Tour events. Scalish said he uses Silver Thread Fluorocarbon because it proves less is more:

Far less stretch = more sensitivity and hooking power

Less memory = more efficient casting

Less visibility = more strikes from wary fish

“Silver Thread Fluorocarbon has far less stretch, which translates into better sensitivity and 100 percent more hook setting power,” Scalish said. “Best of all, it’s virtually invisible and casts like a dream!”

Silver Thread Fluorocarbon is virtually invisible under the water but has excellent visibility above the water. Fluorocarbon material is very abrasion-resistant and possesses great strength qualities. It can be used where maximum strength is needed, but visibility must be kept to a minimum. Silver Thread Fluorocarbon gives anglers sensitivity and low-stretch features not found in other monofilament lines.

Silver Thread’s pros were the first to find Silver Thread Fluorocarbon’s properties of low visibility, high abrasion resistance, high sensitivity, low-stretch and great castability make it a must have for any serious angler. Now it is available for all to discover.

Zell Rowland, who has seen a myriad of products enter the market during his 33 years of professional bass fishing, said Silver Thread Fluorocarbon might be the best of them all. Rowland won the Bassmaster Tour event at Santee Cooper lakes with the second-highest weight total during a Tour event using Silver Thread Fluorocarbon on all of his reels.

“Silver Thread Fluorocarbon is the most incredible line I’ve ever used,” Rowland said. “It is ridiculous how good it is. To me it is almost as sensitive as braided line. It is real close to braid, but without the fish being able to see it. When you catch 30 pounds and you don’t even re-tie and your line isn’t even frayed or nicked that’s incredible! I’ve never seen a fishing line that was like that.”

It’s a good thing that being the best needs no description, because Silver Thread’s pro staff has almost run out of words about what they collectively feel is the most innovative fishing line to ever be introduced.
