The Mepps XD, in just a few short years, has become the standard for comparison for fishermen who prefer spinners that run extra deep. Recently, Mepps conducted research that defined under what conditions fish see and hit spinners. We call it See Best technology. Mepps research has established that water temperature and color, lighting conditions, and lure brightness are critical in determining the effectiveness of a spinner.

The brightness of the XD is toned-down as the water temperature increases. If the water is warm going to a spinner smaller than you would normally use may be required. When the water is cold, going to a spinner larger than you normally use may be needed to stimulate a strike.
