Already one of fly fishing’s most popular series of rods, the new generation of Legend Ultras are faster, smoother and stronger. Integrated Poly Curve (IPC) tooling technology and slim profile ferrules – top-of-the-line features integrated from St. Croix’s Legend Elite fly rods – now come standard on Ultra’s, offering anglers outstanding performance at a superb value. “Last year we completely redesigned the very popular Legend Ultra fly series by adding IPC (Integrated Poly Curve) and ART (Advanced Reinforcing Technology) to the blanks.The added technology has taken hold, and anglers have responded enthusiastically,” says Jeff Schluter, St. Croix’s Vice President of Marketing. Legend Ultras will be available in a total of 33 models in 2-, 4- and 5-piece designs.The rods are built in Park Falls,Wisconsin, from St. Croix’s proprietary SCIV graphite utilizing IPC Technology and Advanced Reinforcing Technology (ART).They feature hard-chrome plated single-foot guides and Fuji Alconite stripper guides on 2-, 3-, 4-, 5- and 6-weight models. Hard-chrome oversized snake guides are provided on two 6-weights (saltwater and 10-foot model) and all 7-, 8-, 9-, 10- and 12-weight rods.Trout rods feature REC nickel-silver reel seats with bird’s-eye maple inserts, and heavier line models feature REC hard-anodized, aluminum reel seats with double-locking rings. All models come with super-grade cork handles and a rugged rod case with divided polypropylene liner. Retail prices remain virtually unchanged at $290 - $390.
