Smaller YUM Wooly Hawgtail Is Fish-Catching GiantFishing Gear - Soft-plastic expert Rob Bomstad of Siloam Springs, Ark., says of all the types of soft plastic baits manufactured, one looms larger than all the rest. Or is that smaller? "I'll use that really small YUM Wooly Hawgtail, the 3-incher, in places where I'm throwing a Carolina Rig," Bomstad said. "I use it mostly to give the fish a different bait to look at. They see so many big lizards and everything else, this is just a different look. "I'll Texas Rig them quite a bit," Bomstad continued. "I'll be honest with you. I'll use that bait year-round." Bomstad said he uses a lighter weight when he fishes the 3-inch Wooly Hawgtail. The only variations he tries while fishing the Wooly Hawgtail is in the presentation. Sometimes he speeds it up, sometimes he slows it way down. "I'm a natural color guy," said Bomstad. "Green Pumpkin and Gobee (green/pearl) are the two I use the most." Bomstad prefers to fish a Carolina Rigged YUM Wooly Hawgtail on Arkansas' Beaver Lake and Missouri's Table Rock Lake around rocky areas and random laydowns like trees. He also targets submerged road beds. "I think it has great action in the water and the body is just a little bit bigger profile and really gives the fish something to hold on to," Bomstad said. All YUM baits are supercharged with Live Prey Technology for even more fish attracting power. The Live Prey Technology (LPT) behind YUM simulates the release of live baitfish enzymes, which trigger feeding habits of fish. "I've bitten off some of the body and used them for jig trailers," Bomstad said. "I've even used them for a bulkier feel on a spinnerbait. That bait is just extremely versatile." The YUM Wooly Hawgtail is available in 28 colors - including two new colors, Watermelon Red Flake and Pumpkin Pepper Green Flake - in a 3-inch and a 4 1/2-inch version.
