Ohio- You may apply for controlled hunts online using Visa/Mastercard/Discover. Or, if you prefer to submit an application via U.S. mail, you may download a hard-copy of adult or youth controlled hunt applications (PDF). Additional information is available by calling 1-800-WILDLIFE (1-800-945-3543).

Applications may not be faxed or emailed. Drawings are held in early September. Results will be posted on our website at www.ohiodnr.com/wildlife in early September. All participants must be properly licensed.

Adult Deer Hunts

The special area permits described below give successfully drawn applicants permission to hunt on the corresponding area. The “either sex permits” and the “antlerless only permits” described in the narratives are not to be confused with special deer permits purchased at license vendor outlets. Prior to the controlled hunt, all hunters must purchase or obtain the necessary license(s) and permit(s) in order to legally participate. Non-hunting attendants, where permitted, need not be licensed. Licenses are not sold at the hunt location! Urban Deer Permits may be used to harvest an antlerless deer at all controlled hunt locations, except the early season muzzleloader hunts at Wildcat Hollow, Salt Fork and Shawnee . Bag limits and tagging requirements apply, meaning deer killed while participating in a controlled hunt count against your season bag limit.
