Shimano's Redesigned Citica Baitcasting Fishing Reels

Fishing Reel Reviews

The Shimano Citica Fishing Reels have been used by anglers for over a decade. These fishing reels have performed notably during that period and are well known for maintaining as high performance fishing reels. Because Shimano Fishing has advanced fishing reels dramatically over the last few years, they’ve redesigned their Citica Fishing Reels in order to allow them to benefit from these premium features. The Citica D Fishing Reel series includes the CI200D, the left-handed fishing reel retrieving CI201D and the power fishing version of the reels the CI200DPV.

The Citica D Fishing Reels include a system designed by Shimano that uses larger gears which proved more leverage and fishing moving power. The system on these reels are called the (HEG) High Efficiency Gearing. The HEG system on these reels provide the high speed 6.2:1 gear ration on the CI200D and 201 D reels and this same system provides the cranking power of the power version of these reels the CI200DPV with the gear ratio of 5.0:1.

Shimano uses their Lo-Mass Drilled Spool System on all three of the Citica D Series Fishing Reels. This is a large arbor spool cross-drilled to keep the weight of spool low and making the weight of the spool closer to the rim. Shimano states “This enables us to provide anglers low start-up inertia for manageable casts, plus we could sacrifice line capacity and still provide reels that can make long casts.”

Shimano put so much attention to detail into these fishing reels that they even drilled the handle shank in order to reduce the weight of these reels. By eliminating unnecessary metal on these reels it provides additional power and added comfort for all day fishing sessions when after a while some fishing reels leave you fatigued from casting. The power fishing version of these reels features oversized paddle grips to increase leverage and comfort as well.

The three Citica D Reels hold up to 180 yards of 8-pound test fishing line and when fishing for the big ones can hold 110 yards of 14-pound test. Each of the reels has four ball bearings and a one-way roller bearing for the Supper Stopper.

Shimano Also provides their Super Free bearing supported pinion gear system on the Citica D Series Fishing Reels. This system reduces friction for increased free spool. A variable brake system is also featured on these reels. It has a quarter turn-key access quickly and easily adjusts the brake weights on the reels. In addition to other features on these fishing reels Shimano also has a Dartanium drag, recessed reel foot and clicking drag adjustment to reduce the possibility of drag backing off at lighter settings.

The Citica D series fishing reels from Shimano Fishing have the latest features you want in fishing reels while built on the base of a time proven design. Their suggested retail is $119.99 Try one of these reels for yourself and you can appreciate the features and time Shimano Fishing has put into giving you better fishing reels.
