Leupold is issuing a customer alert to anyone buying their products due to scopes and other optics apparently being illegally imported from the People’s Republic of China. Although these scopes may appear to be Leupold scopes bearing many of the same marks these scopes are not manufactured or endorsed by Leupold. Since these scopes and optics feature many of the same marks and decals of Leupold distinguishing them from a real Leupold scope tough. Recently counterfeited Leupold Mark 4 rifle scopes have begun arriving regularly for repair service at Leuopold’s headquarters. These scopes are not manufactured by Leupold and not covered by the Leupold Scopes Full Lifetime guarantee. Leupold employs serial number tracking for all of their scopes. If you or a friend are in the market for scopes and suspect of one of the scopes write down the serial number and call 1-800-Leupold to confirm the scopes authenticity. Most of the counterfit scopes appear to originate from Hong Kong(China). Most of these scopes have “Leupold Mark 4” laser engraved on the bottom of the scope’s turret in silver etch. The black ring on the scope’s objective is etched in white and doesn’t have the name Leupold on it. In addition these scopes do not have the Leupold medallion on them. All Leupold scopes have the Leupold medallion on them. Leupold scopes will always have the Leuopold medallion on them. Authentic Mark 4 scopes will always be engraved black on black and have the name Leupold engraved on the black ring. Once again if shopping for scopes and you suspect the scope may not be authentic simply call Leupold with the serial number at 1-800-Leupold. Leupold can verify the authenticity of their scopes via the serial number.
