Primo’s Blood Hunter – Blood Trailing SpotlightIf you’ve ever had to trail a deer you just shot and lost the blood trail then you know the feeling deep in your stomach. Once the trail is lost your chances of finding the deer are greatly decreased. On more than one equation the phone has rang and it’s a buddy who is losing daylight and needs help tracking before he loses the trail overnight. Once the sun sets following a blood trail often means getting down on your hands and knees with flashlights and hoping the trail stays strong enough you’ll see it. Thankfully Primos has created a rechargeable spotlight designed to illuminate blood in the dark. The Primos Blood Hunter Spotlight illuminates blood via its patent pending lens and a special filter which diffuses red over green to make blood much more visible. In a nutshell the red and green light from the Primos Blood Hunter Spotlight creates a yellow light. To the human eye yellow is the optimal light for spotting blood. The yellow light from the Blood Hunter optimizes the reflective properties of blood. Adding the the Primos Blood Hunter Spotlight is its second mode which converts the green light into a nightvision spotlight which won’t spook game like a normal spotlight. I’ll be adding one of these to my hunting gear for the first day of buck. Not only will it help me find my way to my tree stands, but will be there in case of a late day hit and run. The light output is created from two Luxeon bulbs with lifespans of up to 10,000 hours. In the Blood Hunter mode it will run up to 1.5 hours on a single charge. Using only the red or green light will allow the spotlight to run three hours. Cabela’s sells the Primos Blood Hunter Blood Trailing Spotlight for $59.99.
