Savage Arms Awarded Manufacturer and Rifle of the Year

Savage Arms was recently honored with the prestigious Manufacturer of the Year and Rifle of the Year awards by the Shooting Industry Academy of Excellence at the NRA Show in Orlando, Florida. It is the first time in Savage’s history to have received both awards. “Savage is back,” beamed Al Kasper, President and Chief Operating Officer of Savage Arms. “You will continue to see the innovation in Savage growth in year’s to come.”

In its 12th year, the academy is sponsored by the Firearms Marketing Group (FMG) and consists of 460 industry executives, gun-dealers and outdoor writers. The awards honor the industry’s best in 12 categories and are determined by the industry. No one from FMG is permitted to vote. Out of 173 potential nominees for this year, 36 were selected for the final vote.

According to Shooting Industry, Savage was chosen as Manufacturer of the Year “for originating the value-price package concept, allowing the consumer to purchase rifle, scope and sling as a single product; and continued new product development and innovations that provide true benefit to shooters, including the introduction of the new Savage AccuTrigger™ fully adjustable trigger mechanism.”

The Savage Model 12BVSS equipped with the new AccuTrigger™ won the Rifle of the Year. “Historically when you look back, I think the AccuTrigger™ will probably be one of the most important innovations the company has ever had,” commented Brian Herrick, Vice President of Sales and Marketing.
