Land More Saltwater Giants with New Lures and Accessories from Rapala

Press Release

Nothing compares with the thrill of catching a big fish, and landing those saltwater giants would not be the same without the Rapala lure’s signature “wounded-baitfish wobble” and tough accessories that so many saltwater anglers have come to depend on. This year, Rapala introduces more precision technology and lure designs to enhance the saltwater experience for anglers in search of a trophy fish.

ProGuide™ Lock ‘n Weigh Now lifting, weighing and releasing big species of fish is a one-handed operation. Once the fish is boatside, the ProGuide® Lock ‘n Weigh slides over the lower jaw of the fish and is secured by lifting. The patent-pending cam-lock system uses the fish’s weight to lock it into place; then the fish can be lifted into the boat. A built-in scale displays the weight, and the triggers need only a squeeze to release the fish back into the water. The Lock ‘n Weigh is composed of high grade stainless steel that can withstand the rigors of the saltwater environment. Sure-grip material surrounds the handle, assuring no-slip operation and a wrist lanyard adjusts to keep the Lock ‘n Weigh completely secure. The Lock ‘n Weigh makes handling large fish with sharp teeth a safe and enjoyable experience. Both 20-pound and 60-pound scales are available.

LC® Long Casting Minnow The LC® Long Casting Minnow is the only “long-casting” wooden lure available. Using the technology developed for the freshwater LC Minnow, Rapala has applied the patent-pending weight transfer system to the new saltwater offering.

Internal weights shift to the back of the LC® when casting to propel the lure, breaking traditional casting limitations. When the lure hits the water, a small custom-designed lip keeps the LC® topwater with a maximum dive of one to four feet. The weights then shift forward to ensure perfect balance in the water and on retrieve. A locking pin holds the weights in the proper position in the water, giving the bait lively “wounded-minnow” action and allowing for easy retrieval.

The LC® Long Casting Minnow is crafted from abashi wood, which is tough enough to endure even the most powerful attacks, then finished with seven coats of paint and lacquer for that superior Rapala look. The minnow body shape is ideal for many saltwater fishing techniques and is available in seven sensational colors to catch the eye of a variety of species.

New colors for Skitter Walk® The tried and true Skitter Walk® makes it easy to “walk-the-dog” and lure saltwater giants. Now available in two striking new colors, Hot Chartreuse and Hot Pink, these lures are sure to get positive attention.

New Saltwater In-Shore Series Fishing Rods New Tournament Class Series specialty rods have been designed especially for saltwater fishing. Like all Rapala® Premium Rods, the Saltwater In-Shore Series are created by hand and are made of the most advanced, lightweight graphite for extreme sensitivity. Handles crafted of top grade cork offer a secure grip as well as greater comfort and longevity. The Rapala Maximum Guide System improves rod balance and optimizes load distribution to increase overall performance.
