Princeton Tec Earns Top Honors with Backpacking Light

Press Release

TRENTON, NJ. – Princeton Tec, leading manufacturer of lighting products, has received two Trail's Best 2004 Awards from Backpacking Light. The Princeton Tec Matrix 2 and the Princeton Tec Aurora received the 2004 Trail's Best Awards for their exceptional performance and usability in cold conditions.

The Matrix 2, which utilizes a 1 watt L.E.D., was selected for its high output, offering a light output equal to or greater than standard L.E.D.s, Halogen and Xenon bulbs. : "The Matrix 2 offers bright, sustained lighting that exceeds the performance of many halogen lights on the market, said Backpacking Light in its review. "It is waterproof, can be turned on and off with heavily mittened hands, offers simple battery changes, the use of AA lithium batteries for cold weather and weight savings, and has a rugged design."

The review continues: " With its 1-watt LED offering up to 12 hours of sustained bright light suitable for serious mountaineering navigation, the Matrix 2 has one of the best performance: weight ratios of any light we've reviewed."

The Aurora, which is Princeton Tec’s top selling light, was selected as the best light for use in cold conditions.

"The Aurora was among the best performing LED headlamps in our review with respect to maintaining enough light for bright task lighting after 24 hours of exposure to cold conditions," said Backpacking Light in its review.

"Overall, the Princeton Tec Aurora is a very bright and powerful headlamp. It was the only 1-to-3-LED headlamp tested that had a brightness exceeding 200 LUX without the aid of hyper bright or 1-watt LED's. Good brightness over the 24-hour life of the light, combined with a switch that can be used with gloves and a wide, comfortable headband makes the Princeton Tec Aurora a wise choice if you are looking for an excellent all-around trail headlamp that weighs less than 3 ounces."

Since the inaugural issue of Backpacking Light Magazine was published on July 23, 2001 at BackpackingLight.com, the outdoor industry has come to recognize Backpacking Light as the most authoritative source of industry trends in lightweight wilderness travel. Michael Fattori, VP of Sales and Marketing for Princeton Tec, said, "Receiving these two Trail's Best 2004 Awards from Backpacking Light is not only an honor, but it verifies that we are accomplishing our goal to develop high quality innovative personal lighting products that make outdoor sports safer and more enjoyable."

Princeton Tec (www.princetontec.com) is recognized worldwide as an industry leader for personal lighting products.
