Fly Fishing - Corltandline 5 5 5 S E R I E S - F L Y L I N E

Product Spotlight

Fly Fishing - For nearly a hundred years Cortland Line Company has broken new ground in sportfishing line development. In 1953 we introduced the 333 Fly Line, the first ever low-maintenance floating line and the first ever bonded synthetic surface coating ever used in fly fishing line manufacturing.

Through the second half of the century, Cort land’s 444 and 444SL pushed the boundaries of fly fishing line technology even further, while perfecting tapers and creating the most durable, fishable lines available.

The new 555 Series has been designed to be one step ahead of today’s fly fisher combining application-specific tapers and proprietary coatings that tune in each fly fishing line for the job at hand.

The 555 Series does not rely on a single coating, body material, core or taper. Each line is engineered to address the fly fishing specific needs.

We structure the vital fly line design elements to meet specific demands, making each 555 Series Fly fishing Line unique.

It’s no coincidence that the fly line company with the longest history is also the one with its eye toward the future. Cortland pushes the boundaries of their fly fishing lines, so you can push yours.

Application – application-specific tapers combine aerodynamic tapers, special cores, unique coatings and high tech body materials to match each fly fishing line to the task.

Core – each core is crafted to match the desired application of each fly fishing line including our proprietary multi-lumen hollow mono core in our floating lines.

Body – “Barrier Construction Technology” produces a fly fishing line that needs no dressing, requires minimal cleaning, repels dirt and is hydrophobic, shedding water easily.

Coating – multiple slickening agents and bonded coatings are actually mixed into the fly fishing line body coming to the surface with use and creating a virtually friction-free cast.

Durability – long-chain polymer additives provide extreme durability and unparalleled crack resistance– far and away more durable than any of the fly fishing lines we’ve tested!

Taper – each taper is specific to the fly fishing line application and includes a special beefed up 555 anticollapse rear compound taper designed to help the caster aerialize more line.

Innovation – new additions to the 555 Series are being created and tested continually, and will appear periodically as they are perfected, giving the new adventurous generation of fly fishfishers the right tools for the challenge that is fly fishing in the 21st century.
