Fishing Reels - New Quantum® MG™ Baitcast Reels are Classic ModelsThe Quantum® MG™ name has earned an enviable reputation over the years because of the quality and durability of the products within the family. Well, rest assured these newest additions to bear the MG name will make the family proud. The Classic® 1420 MG'M and its wide-spool counterpart, the 1430 MG®, are built for big fish and big action. And they are just as at home in saltwater as they are in fresh. The new reels have the classic MG shape, somewhat of a cross between low profile and round. It's a shape that delivers user comfort whether palming or power cranking. But it's what's on the inside that really makes these Classic MGs so good. For starters, check out the machined brass gears and stainless steel bearings. The 1420 and 1430 MG reels have 5.7:1 gear ratios and 4 stainless steel bearings. And spools in both models are high-quality forged aluminum with generous line capacities. MG models boast a solid one-piece aluminum frame that ensures a heavy-duty performance whether deep cranking or reeling in a big one. A patented, exclusive braking system takes the work out of controlling casts. The brake system is easily accessible by opening the quick-release side cover and is adjusted with a simple dialing to the desired setting to match casting conditions. The aluminum crank-side cover ensures the gear train stays in alignment for a smooth and consistent performance, and lasting durability. Quantum's Continuous Anti-Reverse'" adds another valuable feature to the series and gives anglers the upper hand on hooksets. The 1430 MG model is equipped with a Bait Alert'" for audible detection of line playing out. And thanks to MG's exclusive new lubrication ports allowing lubrication without disassembly, anglers can say goodbye to cumbersome maintenance. The 1420MG will hold 210 yards of 12-pound test or 185 yards of 14-pound test. The 1430MG is built to handle 270 yards of 14-pound test or 230 yards of 17-pound test. Both models are also available in left hand cranking versions. The 1420 sells for around $79.95 while the 1430 retails for about $89.95. www.quantumfishing.com
