Fly Fishing - River Trail Gear- A River May Run Through It, But Now You Can Ride

Fly Fishing - Press Release

Fly Fishing - Imagine heading farther back into the wilds or at least more than a mile from the trail-head, casting to and catching fish that few if any have access to strictly based on the seclusion of their haunts. The best way in is to peddle your mountain bike. All of your gear fits into a pack easily, but not your rods. Even your travel rods are cumbersome. Finally, a company called RiverTrail Gear has introduced a way that allows you to take your rods with you (everything from travel rods to 2 handed spey rods).

The innovation - the RiverTrail Mountain Bike Fly Rod Rack.

Trails, logging roads, and un-paved back-roads can be found throughout our country's state and national forests and parks, and in rural areas that potentially provide fishing access. Additionally, within the rails-to-trails conservancy there are 328 individual trails, which consists of over 4,300 miles of trails across the country, that also provide access for fishing.

Beyond the trail-heads, these resources have been ignored by all but the most stout of fly fishers, largely because of the logistic problems of transporting rods, waders, wading shoes, and other gear over any distance longer than a mile.

The RiverTrail Mountain Bike Fly Rod Rack was designed for the adventurous fly fisher who wants to get away from the crowds (at least those who are not afraid to sweat a little to do so). Robert Troup, co-owner of RiverTrail Gear, says that he developed the product because he wanted to be able to "fish where the fish are, no matter where that may be" and he was not able to find a product to suit his needs.

The RiverTrail Mountain Bike Fly Rod Rack attaches to the front hub quick-release skewer of your mountain bike and comes in either a single or double rod model. Its design is compatible with most mountain bikes having dynamic suspension systems.

RiverTrail Gear is a small company (not some corporate monolith) formed by Pamela and Robert Troup, who along with its sister company, Black Duck Fly Fishing Products, specializes in traditional and innovative necessities for fly fishers, fly tiers and outdoor enthusiasts.

RiverTrail products are available through many local fly shops (a list is available at the RiverTrail company website) or directly from the company through their website www.rivertrailgear.com.
