Expedition Star - new Luxeon Star LED Flashlight

Press Release

Trenton, N.J., July 29th, 2003 — Tektite continues to demonstrate its role as the leader in LED flashlight technology with the introduction of its latest flashlight… the Expedition™ Star. The Expedition Star is the first flashlight to incorporate the new Luxeon™ Star LED and specialized narrow beam optics.

"The Luxeon Star represents the greatest breakthrough in LED flashlight technology since we introduced the multi-LED flashlight in 1998," said Scott Mele, Tektite president and noted flashlight expert. "With this advancement there's no reason to purchase traditional incandescent flashlights because the key features of incandescent lights—such as high luminous intensity and prefocused lamps—can now be found in a LED flashlight."

"Focusing on value, the Expedition Star offers the lowest cost of ownership when you factor in the 92.6% reduction in operating costs compared to traditional flashlights," said Richard Saint Cyr, Tektite vice president. "You can quickly see the value of the Expedition Star when you consider that average professional users spend upwards of $277 per year to keep their incandescent lights running."

In addition to being at the leading edge of technology and value, the Expedition Star has many standard features that make it one of the most rugged flashlights in the world.

- 1,000 Feet Depth Rating: double O-ring seals make this light watertight - Durable: constructed from ABS and Lexan®—the same material used to make bulletproof glass

- Reliable: 10,000+ hour lamp life and 65+ hours of battery life

- Vibration & Shock Resistant: LEDs have no filaments to break

- Shockproof: ABS body engineered for demanding environments

Camo Vision Glasses

The Original Camo Glasses

Fishing Rods

I just got these this past weekend. I couldn't believe when I was surfing the net and came across your site and these glasses. These are the best kept secret in hunting. Paid just over $50 including shipping. This has been a problem for me for years. My turkey stand is awesome, but facing right into the sun an hour after sunrise. I have some pretty nice shades, but wouldn't dare risk wearing them when camo'd up from head to toe. This is the answer I've been looking for.

Hey, their all camo'd up. Are they the best lenses, no, but they are good and will certainly help my eye strain especially after a couple of hours of staring for long beards.

I haven't had them out yet, but wearing them around the house I liked them, that is until my wife said I looked like a goof.

Well made for the occasional wear during hunting. I plan on keeping them in my shooting glasses case so they don't disapper like some of my other glasses have in the past.

Their one of those things, you say why didn't I think of that, I could have been a millionaire. I was blown away when I saw them on the front of my newest daily visit site. I guess now the secret is out. I really hope they come out with a set of white camo's in the near future. Now that would take the cake.

About $225.00 at the Firing Pin 3 months ago, the price has probably come down since then.

This is my first one and these things are awesome. I've been downloading maps into it like mad. I can find anything now. It's way quick at least compared to the old fashion ones.

I'm burning up batteries like mad. I wish these things were rechargeable or something.

I haven't dropped it yet so I'll have to let you know. The buttons are solid though. If there's a way to break it I will.

This thing is the bomb, I can find anything just tell me where it's at and I'll meet you there.

300 X

Fishing Reels

This was my best e-bay deal ever. Still in the box for $20.00. I'm not sure why someone would sell this so cheap and didn't want to ask either. A local bait shop has them for sale close to seventy.

Smooth, Smooth, Smooth. This is one well designed reel. It's not like cranking an old engine, it's more like a good golf swing where everything falls into place. The reel gives excellent feed back. You know they sometimes pull straight out where your rod won't pick the hit up as much as a side to side hit. With this reel you know what's happening on the other end of the line.

It's too bad it didn't come with a rod attached.

This is my first Mitchell and now I know why old timers talk them up so much. Very precise feel and well made. Everything locks in to place like it's meant to be that part of the puzzle.

I got this sweetheart for a steal, oopps I better not say that to loud maybe it was. Okay, I'll shut up about my great bargain. All reels are pretty well made these days. This one just has a feel I like. You'd better check your closet to make sure your old lady didn't sell yours for on e-bay.

Ugly Stik

Fishing Rods

My Son found this one by the river we fish. It's in almost new condition. I took it off his hands one day and never looked back.

I've been using an Ugly Stik since the early 90's. These things are incredible. I do a lot of Carp fishing and if you've ever caught a big you know they are putting up a fight. I never miss a night of fishing in the Summer months and these things stand up to the use and abuse better than any I've had before.

What happened to the old cork handles they had years ago. These foam handles are on everything these days. All they do is collect grease and smell.

Other than that handle there this one seems really well made. I just couldn't resist the other night after getting a snag I just about bent it in half just to see what it would do and it held stronger than a pitbull.

I don't know a lot about other rods and reels anymore, but these are really tough rods that will stand up to about anything. Buy something for you and you'll never be sorry.

Rain Gear

I could use a new duffle bag so here goes nothing. I decided to review my Cabela's rain gear. Actually I only purchased the Parka for $99 big ones. I've had it since Christmas 02.

The best thing about this rain gear is it folds into itself. It does this by every part of it folding into it's own pocket. You would have to see it to belive how small it actually becomes. I carry it in my small game pocket in my hunting coat and use it when I stump sit to keep my-- Well you know. Probably most important is the fact it stays quiet. I remember as a kid having those old K-mart rain panchos that sounded like sandpaper amplified each time you used them in the cold. To date the parka hasn't had a problem with cold and making noise.

Why do you think I didn't get the pants, at $99.00 dollars that's all I could afford for the time being. Can't they make something of this quality for a little better price.

I haven't had it in the worst of rain yet so I don't know how well it exactly does it's job. I can say I've gone so some pretty heavy brush wearing it turkey hunting and haven't seen it snag on anything once. Including one day that was so cold and rainy I just wanted to get out of the woods and was plowing through just about anything in sight to make a bee line back to the car.

If you can afford and will take care of it this is a nice piece of hunting and or fishing clothing to have. I wouldn't recommend getting them for a youngster who hasn't quit growing yet unless you have younger ones that will grow into the size. The only thing holding me back from a better rating is the cost.
