Rocket Fishing Rod For KidsI’m a big believer that fun a kid has his first few times hunting or fishing will determine if he’s going to be a hunter or fisherman for life. With that said I’m surprised at the number of kids I see equipped with cheap Mickey Mouse fishing rods and reels and then the parents wonder why the kid gets frustrated and doesn’t want to fish anymore. Several people have asked me about something called Rocket Fishing Rods and unfortunately I didn’t know a thing about them other than they were some type of fishing rod for kids. Well after a little research here’s what I found. Rocket Fishing Rods look just like that a rocket fishing rod for kids. You pump the slide and launch your fishing lure or hook up to 30 feet. Another feature on these fishing rods for kids is the bobber keeps the hook endlcosed until the bobber hits the water at which time it releases the hook. Not only is that a nice safety feature for the rod, but may keep Dad from having to rebait the hook everytime a cast goes bad. The rod has a built in reel filled with 6 pound test fishing line. The rod has a storage compartment in the handle for extra fishing tackle and to keep a spare bobber for the rod itself. Yet another plus for this rod for kids is it’s made out of ABS plastic which means at least the rod portion is going to be pretty touch to destroy. I’m not sure what the enclosed reel is made out of or how well the fishing rod in general will last, but would have to think it would last at least a few trips fishing or long enough to get a kid interested. The price you ask? Well most of the Rocket Rods I saw on the Net were around $40.00 and come with a Learn To Fish DVD featuring Roland Martin. Make no doubt about these are for kids only, but might make his or her first fishing experience a memorable one and that can make all the difference. I’m looking forward to receiving our first User Rod Review on this great rod for kids.
